  • Preference for a candidate/party: Neither
  • Summary:
The author is curious as to why neither candidate has not politicized the anniversary of 9/11 in order to show why they are better than their competitor. He attributes this to the current protests going on in the Muslim world and believes that Western governments are hypocritical in claiming that the Muhammad video is freedom of speech yet the French government will not allow Muslims to protest.

Palestine Chronicle: Nader Guest Post -- Not a Gaffe, but the Real Romney

    1. The Palestine Chronicle: http://palestinechronicle.com/
    2. Author: Ralph Nader
    3. Title: Not a Gaffe, but the Real Romney
    4. Date Published: 9/20/12
    5. How many lines/pages were devoted to the US elections: entire article
    6. Accessed under "Articles" (http://palestinechronicle.com/view_article_details.php?id=19586) on 9/20/2012
    7. Preference for a candidate/party: Anti-Romney
    8. Summary:
The author argues that Romney's recent gaffe, stating 47% of Americans do not pay income tax and are completely dependent on the government, was in fact not a gaffe, instead, it was a revelation about his true feelings. He argues that Romney is blind to the fact that the "47%" still pay taxes in several other forms, like social security and payroll, and that many of these people are so poor that they do not meet the minimum income tax threshold. He emphasizes that Romney is more concerned about removing government benefits from the average persons and extending "incentives" to corporations and wealthy individuals.

    7. Preference for a candidate/party: Neutral
    8. Summary:
The author contends that the recent film negatively depicting the Prophet Muhammad, which sparked the recent string of protests across the Middle East and North Africa, may have been created by a pro-Israeli U.S. lobbying group. He believes that it is no mere coincidence that the movie appeared a mere two months before the U.S. Presidential elections. He mentions that a U.S. pro-Israeli group, the Clarion Fund, created a similar video last Presidential election cycle.

    Introduction

    Hello All,

This blog will be used to meet the blog requirement of my project on how the worldviews the U.S. elections. I am currently enrolled in a political geography class in which I am required to track stories from the Palestine Chronicle that discuss the U.S. President election. I will post articles as I find them with basic citations and I will provide brief summaries of them.
